Elderberry Workshop @ The Ike Box
✨Come learn all about the magic of elderberries!✨
In our Elderberry Workshop, you will learn how to identify, forage, and create an immunity-boosting syrup made from wild elderberries!
This in-person event will be a hands-on experience on how to make your very own cold syrup from start to finish. We’ll discuss ethics, safety, and the benefits of incorporating herbalism into your routine - including the unique properties of blue elderberry.
You’ll take home a jar of elderberry syrup to support you through the winter months, plus our recipe and instructions to formulate your own creations at home!
This workshop is the perfect way to incorporate the benefits of plants into your everyday life!

Herbal Day Retreat @ Silver Falls State Park
Come kick off the fall season with a fun afternoon in the forest with friends!
Join us for the Cascadia Herbal Day Retreat, a local daytime event at Silver Falls State Park revolving around plants and how to use them!
We’ll start with foraging ethics and safety before our plant identification hike, then enjoy a nourishing meal by the fireside.
Then we’ll have an elderberry syrup workshop where you’ll learn all about the wonderful benefits of immune-boosting blue elderberry.
You’ll leave with your own jar of syrup, recipe & instructions, and new knowledge of the natural world around us!

Our small group of women will be staying 3 nights at Cascadia State Park, nestled in the lower Cascade mountains along the South Santiam River!
Your host, Danee, will be your guide as you learn about your natural environment, reflect on yourself, and create new friendships! Danee has an educational background in natural sciences, works in public service, and is a trained yoga instructor with a passion for bringing people together in nature.

Arrival: 4 pm, Thursday, September 7
Departure: 11 am, Sunday, September 10
Accommodations: We’ll be staying in a group campsite, with plenty of room to spread out several tents. There is also the option to camp in your vehicle in the adjacent gravel parking lot. We can have a maximum of 2 RVs in our group site, so if you prefer to bring yours, include that information in your registration. Otherwise, bring your sleeping shelter and bedding. Restrooms with flushing toilets and sinks/soap are located close to the campsite. The campsite is relatively flat and has one large fire pit, shady trees, several picnic tables, and vault toilets. Access to the river is by stairs or a short, fairly steep trail. A small, accessible creek also runs nearby.
Food: Breakfast, picnic lunch, and family-style dinner will be provided each full day (including dinner on the first day and breakfast on the last day). You are also welcome to bring your own meals and snacks, if you choose. Accommodations for gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian/vegan can be made – please be sure to include this information with your registration.
Extracurriculars: Bring your favorite camping comforts, extra clothing layers, water bottle, hiking shoes, day backpack if you like, and yoga mat if you have one. Firewood contributions are welcome. While we are animal lovers, please leave your pets at home. Alcohol is not prohibited, but we expect everyone to maintain a high level of safety and respect at all times.

This in-person event will be a hands-on experience learning how to make an herbal salve from start to finish. We’ll discuss ethics, safety, and the benefits of incorporating herbal skincare into your routine. We’ll also enjoy herbal tea and snacks during a Q & A session with your host, Danee, while our salve cools.
You’ll take home the salve you make, plus our recipe and instructions on how to formulate your own creations at home!

PNW Plant Walk @ Silver Falls: Spring Series
Are you curious about foraging or looking to deepen your plant identification knowledge?
Learn about gathering ethics, land ecology and native plant species?
Explore ethnobotany through the history of plants and their uses?
Please join me in a guided plant walk where we’ll discuss all this and more in a unique local park with mature old growth forest!
We’ll spend 2 hours wandering through the forest to find, identify, and discuss over 20 local plants species and their medicinal uses!
Your host, Danee, has an educational background in geography, natural sciences, plant identification, works in public service, and is a trained yoga instructor with a passion for bringing people together in nature.

We’ll identify plenty of plants, but may only forage berries, fruits and similar edibles from this site. You’re welcome to bring a basket/bag for what we gather. There is a $5 day-use fee unless you have an annual park pass. Please bring water, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing/shoes, and snacks if you like. Restrooms are located at the parking lot.

Activities: We’ll explore the park identifying plants, discuss foraging and ethics, herbal uses, learn first aid skills, hike to beautiful waterfalls, practice yoga, meditation, journaling, have free time to connect, and more!

Social distancing will be in place, keeping yoga mats at least 6 feet away from each other. I’ll be wearing a mask at check-in and getting all participants’ contact information (as required per Covid-19 restrictions). Otherwise, masks are optional.
